During the recent State of the Union address, President Obama mentioned his desire to raise the national minimum wage. That prompted celebrity chef and Top Chef judge, Tom Colicchio, to air his support of a wage increase on Twitter—the national minimum cash wage for workers who also receive tips hasn’t been raised in over two decades.
NY Times food writer Pete Wells then asked Colicchio if he plans to raise wages for his workers. That sparked a much larger conversation in the Twitterverse. Here are a few highlights and opinions from some industry players.
In case you were wondering, Colicchio responded to Wells this way: “…I would not be opposed to a slight increase.”
